FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Chase IHG card FAQs

This is a major focus for IHG frequent travelers. Chase card Elite Night Credits (ENC) count as Elite Qualifying Nights (EQN) in the IHG account, toward both elite status and Milestone Rewards:

1. ENC rules by card:
• No-annual-fee IHG One Rewards: 5 fixed ENC annually.
• Premier ($150 annual fee): 15 fixed ENC annually; 2 per $5,000 spent (unlimited); 5 additional nights after $15,000 calendar-year spending ($15k earns 15+6+5 = 26 nights).
• Premier Select ($350 flagship): 20 fixed ENC annually (even with 0 stays, this reaches the 20-night milestone); 2 per $5,000 spent; 5 additional nights after $15,000 calendar-year spending ($15k earns 20+6+5 = 31 nights).
• IHG Business: 15 fixed ENC annually.

2. Can multiple cards' nights stack?
• Media and issuer-representative confirmation: frequent-traveler outlets such as Frequent Miler and MilesTalk reportedly received confirmation from Chase representatives that fixed annual ENC from multiple eligible IHG cards can stack. Premier Select (20 nights) + Premier (15 nights) or Business (15 nights) would start with 35 EQN; holding all three could theoretically reach 50 EQN.
• Public-terms caveat: as of early 2026/10, some published Chase terms still retain earlier wording limiting a single account to 15 or 20 nights. Reports say Chase described this as old text pending correction; terms and systems are being aligned. Follow Chase and IHG announcements for actual posting.

3. Reaching the 40-night lounge milestone:
The 40-night milestone offers a choice of two rewards, including Annual Lounge Membership and a Confirmable Suite Upgrade. If stacking 35 nights from two cards works as described, only 5 actual nights are needed (35 + 5 = 40 nights) for more than a year of IHG lounge access, including snacks, afternoon tea, and Happy Hour.

Important: Diamond status earned through $25,000 Premier Select spending is a separate status benefit. EQN still accumulate from actual spending-generated nights (35 nights); it does not automatically unlock the 40/70-night Milestone Rewards. These are separate mechanisms.

With an IHG card, every fourth night costs 0 points on eligible standard-room bookings of at least 4 consecutive nights paid fully with points. When all four nights require the same number of points, this saves 25% of the total points. Actual savings depend on each night's points price.

• IHG One Rewards Premier and Premier Select: fourth-night-free rewards without an annual spending threshold.
• No-annual-fee IHG One Rewards: no threshold through 2026/12/31. From 2027/1/1, $5,000 in eligible spending each calendar year is required to unlock the remaining part of that year and the following calendar year (effective approximately 6–8 weeks after qualifying).

Yes. IHG awards allow unlimited points top-off.

• Premier: 1 annual standard-room award worth up to 50,000 points starting at renewal after 12 months.
• Premier Select: 1 annual standard-room award worth up to 60,000 points starting at renewal after 12 months (the first 60K award); a second 60,000-point award after $40,000 calendar-year spending.

For a luxury InterContinental or Regent stay costing 75,000 points, pay the points difference (25,000 with Premier or 15,000 with Premier Select), subject to reward standard-room availability.

The guide describes two main Chase rules:

1. 5/24 rule: 5 or more newly opened personal cards across issuers within the past 24 months can trigger automatic rejection of a new Chase application.
2. 24-month welcome-offer restriction:
• No-annual-fee IHG One Rewards and Premier: published terms exclude current holders of any personal IHG card and recipients of any personal IHG new-cardmember bonus within the past 24 months (business cards are not included in this restriction).
• New Premier Select: terms exclude current holders of this Premier Select card or recipients of this card's bonus within the past 24 months; they do not categorically exclude every earlier personal IHG card. Actual approval remains subject to Chase's overall credit review.

Compare your travel habits and annual-fee budget:

• Premier ($150 annual fee): a balanced option. $100 in annual hotel dining rewards, $100 airline credit, and $50 United TravelBank total up to $250 in benefits; the source illustrates value above the fee plus a 50K award and fourth-night-free rewards without a threshold, for travelers staying at IHG 1–2 times or more each year.
• Premier Select ($350 annual fee): a premium option. Up to $300 in annual dining rewards, $200 airline credit, and $50 United TravelBank total $550, plus a 60K award (a second after $40k annual spending), Platinum status, and Diamond after $25k spending (complimentary breakfast for two).

The source lists these rules:

• IHG Food & Beverage Rewards: issued by calendar quarter (Premier $25 quarterly, up to $100 annually; Premier Select $75 quarterly, up to $300 annually). Eligible dining must be charged to the primary cardholder's room folio during a participating IHG hotel stay for automatic or manual redemption. Rewards expire at quarter-end and do not roll over.
• Airline statement credit: once per calendar year, buy a single airline ticket of at least $250 directly from an airline; Premier receives $100 and Premier Select $200. The stated benefit deadline is 2027/12/31.
• United TravelBank: after linking the card to a MileagePlus account, receive $25 every half-year ($50 annually) toward eligible United tickets.

The guide compares the tiers as follows:

• Silver Elite (included with the no-annual-fee card): 20% bonus stay points, points that do not expire, and priority check-in.
• Gold Elite (included with Premier): 40% bonus points and late checkout subject to availability.
• Platinum Elite (included with Premier Select; Premier upgrades after $15k annual spending): 60% bonus points, room upgrades subject to availability (including higher floors or views), early check-in and late checkout, and a welcome amenity.
• Diamond Elite (after $25k annual Premier Select spending or $40k Premier spending): 100% bonus points, highest-priority upgrades (up to selected suites), and a welcome amenity choice of daily complimentary full breakfast for two; Annual Lounge Membership is an optional Milestone Reward.
